Dog hats

For all dog people who like to dress their pets (that's me), this one is a must see. I think Tater Tot really needs one of these for the cold winter nights in Texas.

Sick in bed today

When I'm sick I crave chicken noodle soup, saltines and a good movie.

Did you feel like this as a child?

It's time to break this repetitive cycle in my head of how art should be made and what is right and wrong. It's time to play and not listen to that art teacher in my head from years ago. Surrender to creativity.

Love her, enough said.

Music touches the soul

Jeff Buckley's version is my favorite, but this one is a close second with a young Sheryl Crow.

Friends

Friends, how amazing are they! Thank you Kristen for all your help today and allowing me to cry and breathe again. I am so grateful to have friends that can love me through this. Call me when you need a friend and I'll be there. The title of this photograph sums it up best: Love is never complete without friends.

Missed it

The piece that got away. I knew I should have bought it last night, darn. It really looks like my dog Tater Tot. Hate it when that happens!

Helpful when buying fabric

Found this cheat sheet on Urban Grace Interiors blog. Thanks for this, you saved me tons of time.

Fabrics, who knew?

I just found out last night that IKEA has fabrics by the yard and they are so cheap. Now I'm in the mood to make something. What do think about a shower curtain made from this fabric?

Eco chic

I am always looking for new green ideas and this is my newest love! These clothes are so comfy and casual - love em. I love their tagline: Peace, love and trees.

Breathe

Do you ever forget to breathe? Sometimes I catch myself going so quickly through my day that I forget to take a deep, healing breath and say thank for today.
I've always wanted to get a tattoo of the word breathe on my left wrist as a friendly reminder everyday, but I have yet to.

New artist

My sister-in-law shared this jaw dropping artist/photographer with me and I can't get enough of him. He explains his art like this:
Society exists, the image seeks.
The image exists, society sinks.
How powerful is his work, would love to hang one of those bad boys in my living room. Thanks Casey!

Butterfly luncheon

Going to Houston Hospice’s Butterfly luncheon today and so excited to volunteer and hear the author of The Shack speak. One of the nation’s only pediatric hospice programs, the Butterfly Program provides a professional and medical platform of service to children with terminal illness, their families, and friends. What a great organization to support.

A few of my favorite things

Kuhl-Linscomb is my all time favorite store with 70,000 square feet to shop and find your heart's desire. Look at this amazing outdoor furniture, who wouldn't enjoy an outdoor party during Houston in the springtime.

Spiritual expansion

AMMA comes to Houston this week and she is giving blessings. AMMA is known as one of the living saints who transmits love and gives a message of spiritual growth and liberation to all. I have friends who have been blessed by her and say it's an amazing experience. I'm going to check it out. It's this week April 22,23,24 at Unity church if anyone is interested.

Retail therapy

It's Monday and in need of a little retail therapy to make it through the day! It's only 20 bucks for this print, how amazing is that.

Kevin Peterson - Houston artist

I've been dreaming of Kevin Peterson's work since the moment I laid eyes on it several years ago. I love the mix of innocence and raw danger. He does commission pieces - man what a dream that would be.

The Fear is In My Heart

What you are hiding is sometimes painfully obvious. Doing this blog and putting out to the world who I am and what I love is vulnerable and scary. Does anyone else feel this way when starting something new and unknown?

{Piece by: cordialkitten} Her work is on Etsy.

It's Monday

It's Monday and time to get going. Music always puts me in a better mode and Matt Nathan's song does the trick.

Happy belated Easter

I hope everyone enjoyed the day with friends and family. There's nothing better to read Easter evening than a childhood favorite Molly Brett's "A surprise for dumpy." Her children's classics always remind me of family gatherings and love.

Our first house

It's official! I'm moving out of the two mile radius that I have lived in from my childhood home into our first house. Guess I'm a grown-up now.

Little brain, lotta bark and tons of LOVE!

Wrapping up the weekend

Ray LaMontagne's song "Winter Birds" to wind down the weekend and lull me into the upcoming week dubbed to a slow snow drive.

New healthy snack

The best snack on the go is the pecan pie Larabar from WholeFoods. It's only three ingredients: dates, pecans, and almonds and it taste like heaven. They have many other delicious flavors to choose from. Yummy!!

What I would do with $1,000?

If I had $1,000 I would buy my entire family custom felted sculptures of their pets. Wow - what a great Christmas that would be.

Since I was a small child I've always been mesmerized by butterflies.

Daydreaming of a lazy Sunday

The pedal steel in Ray La Montagne's "Empty" takes me to a magical place within seconds of hearing his dreamy voice.
